Identity is layered and evolving, shaped entirely by my experiences, family history, and memory. Being an Argentine immigrant with Eastern European roots means my definition of “home” is fluid, always resting somewhere between different cultures.<\/p>

In my work, I use textiles, biomaterials, natural dyes, and recycled fibers to capture what it actually feels like to navigate that diaspora and find a sense of belonging. Through all the moves and changes in my life, nature has been my one constant. Extracting color from South Florida native plants has become a grounding ritual for me\u2014it is my way of plugging into my current environment while still honoring the history I carry in my roots.<\/p>

I take an experimental approach to my art, collaborating with different materials and allowing them to express themselves. They change, age, and react to their surroundings over time. For me, that unpredictable process perfectly mirrors how we adapt and grow whenever we get replanted in new soil across generations.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t

Debora Rosental is an Argentinian artist based in Miami Florida. With a background as Biochemist, Pharmacist, and a Doctorate in Cellular Biology, she translates\u00a0 her scientific perspective into arts of weaving and natural dyeing, treating every fiber and pigment as an experiment in identity and nature.\u00a0<\/p>

She takes an experimental approach to her work. She goes beyond traditional fabric by using innovative biomaterials and dyes made from native Florida plants.Through her art , Rosental explores the delicate themes of identity, ancestry, and the human impact on the environment.\u00a0<\/p>

\u00a0Her creative journey has been shaped by this unique blend of disciplines, leading her to explore the profound connections between color, nature, and cultural heritage. Debora\u2019s interest in natural dyes from native Florida plants became crucial to her work and her understanding of the intimate relationship between memory, identity and landscape.<\/p>

Rosental is a two-time winner of the Miami Individual Artist (MIA) Grants (2024-2026). She is currently an Artist-in-Residence at the Deering Estate program.\u00a0<\/p>

\u00a0Her work has been exhibited in prestigious institutions, such as Coral Gables Museum, the Handweaving Museum, Florida International University (FIU),The Coral Springs Museum of Art, and The Hollywood Art and Culture Center. She is co-author of the published book: South Florida Color Palette. Natural Dyes and Native Plants.<\/p>
